FreeBSD has some cool kernel features like kqueue
and
aio (yes, you can tell me they exist in your favorite OS, if
you like). Maybe I should follow this.
On the Scheme compiling front,
this is a damm fine resource for the interresting bits and this is a good book (and
all online!) on the subject
